Jungle fish fry

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The bottom fish appear to be maculacauda. Looks tasty! I was never daring enough to eat any of the cichlids I caught in Hawaii as the water was nasty.

They were delicious, I liked the Managuense more than the maculacauda, but the Veija had more meat on them. Just fried in peanut oil, roasted corn and rice and beans, it was great, The next night we ate 4 different species of freshwater shrimp and prawns, some were almost a foot long. I'll post more pics when I get everything resized. ken

They look delicious, love to eat fish. Makes me want to go fishing in my basement.:D

How much meat do you get from a convict?
Must have been monster cons!

Not much. A few were monsters. To give you guys an idea of how common cons are in Central America there was a small pool about 2' wide x 3' long and 1' deep full of rocks etc. From that pool we were able to pull out no less than 100 convicts most were in the one inch range a bunch in the 3-4 inch range and maybe 10 6-7" monsters. Tasty little bastards. Mean as hell too the biggest male demolished one 10'' mota and made 3 others hop out of the rubbermaid we were holding them in. The cons felt at home almost instantly while the Larger motas got attacked immediately and stressed by the established cons. Next time I'm keeping them separated.

I would say so. These are part 1 & 2 of my collecting vids from last year. The Vids don't do the color justice. They don't look like a normal gold moph or as bright as a red but more of an orange when not stressed. Orange tigers? If you were to Compare them side by side with an RTM chances are the RTM would take the cake as far as looks go. Rarity is whats driving me to bring these out here.

Check out how many fish we got on our first try (1st vid) 3 motas and 2 cons.

in the second vid the colors kinda show up when the female mota was in the jar. The vid quality is not great though.

The pic makes me sad, but I'd eat them too.

You can only eat so much cold rice and beans when you in the jungle, Fresh fish is a treat, here they are right after we caught them, you can't bring big fish back, it's impossible.
