Jungle Parasite Clear for White Stringy Poop?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I also tried soaking bloodworms in a cup using tank water with 1/8th of a tablet of Parasite Clear. As far as I know, this is not a generally accepted way to treat IP's. I only did it 'cause I couldn't find any recipes for homemade medicated food.

I do it all the time. Why buy special food when you can just soak the food you have in medicine?

White stringy poop can lead to a constipated fish or even bloat. To say a salt bath wont do anything I disagree with being epsom salt is a natural laxitive to a fish. I'd use JPC to treat the parasite and an epsom salt bath to relieve its digestive tract.

''cing'' was ''w/cing'' or water changing. I noticed that if I hadn't done water changes before each treatment my fish tend to do worse.

Anyways I've treated many fish that have had white stringy poop and stopped eating. I've had great success with treating them as outlined above with never a loss of life. They've always recovered.

Good Luck

Can i do the same treatment for Discus?
and how much salt per gallon on water?
thanks

i used the jungle parasite clear to cure my 55 gal, i had just recently purchased a blue dempsey, i thought was healthy, he sat at the shop for over a month before i decided to shell out 35 bucks, by the time he got home he already had the white stringy poo hangin so i started treatment the next day, dosing the tank every other day over a six day period and doing a 25 percent water change before each dose, by day seven he was eating like a champ and is very active, youll save some cash by using a smaller tank to treat in, but it only took two boxes for me to treat my 55, now the problem i have is my blue dempsey scratches sometimes and tremors on occasion, but shows no signs of external parasites and acts healthy, my water parameters are perfect and was maybe thinking about trying prazi pro as its safe for my plants, any suggestions would be welcomed

Are you referring to the JPC tabs? or the Food?

My EBJD is not eating... so wondering if the tabs work well..

use garlic guard IMMEDIATELY.

And jungle parasite clear.. i used that on my EBJD for 1 month.. he's cured now and eating fine...

Garlic guard is garlic juice and it basically enhance their appetite, makes them hungry....

It does work.. only takes time..

EBJDs are more prone to internal infections when young. Which is probably what your EBJD has. So you need to start feeding antibiotics. Continue the parasite food as well just to be sure.

yah the parasite clear i used was the tabs as he was not eating, he has passed the internal parasite and is gaining size quick, apparently he also must of picked up a bacterial infection while being stressed from the internal parasite as i noticed some fin rot, that seems to be the source of his scratching, luckily im stocked up on kanaplex and the fin rot has subsided, and new growth has taken place, and the scratching has stopped as well, definatly picky fish, all my other fish have been fine through the process, and my water parameters have remained pretty much perfect, even the black ghost knife and micro sword i added a few weeks ago have been problem free, anyways hopefully my ebjd is in the clear, ive had him for almost 7 weeks now and through all of it he has put on 1 1/2 inches of size and has bulked up considerably...even out growing the 2 regular jd i purchased him with, and surprisingly of the three dempseys, the ebjd is the most aggressive and bullies the others around for food... thought i was purchasing a more docile creature but i was wrong

also a good base diet for your ebjd would be cichlid staple as it contains garlic and will help as a preventitive throughout its life, but also want to make sure he eats other good stuff too

Rocky Mountain Discus has a website with meds for white stringy poop that wouldn't be cost prohibitive for a 55 gallon tank. I've used their "dewormer" in large planted tanks (90 gallons) with good success and no damage to plants or substrate. They have dewormer pellet food my discus will eat but the big problem is inevitably one or two aren't eating and you have to use a small pipette or syringe, take them out of the tank, lay them out on a soft, warm, damp cloth, and run medicated food down their throat (I use blood worms a mixed with the dewormer). Barbaric, but it really works and I haven't lost one yet in the process.
