hey just wondering here but how do i get that strong of a current for these guys?

Depending on the tank size........ but either powerheads or Pumps (pumps are usually from the sump). My Pump does 4750gph @ 4'. My plumbing is less than 4' thou so I dont know how much exactly it is pumping. Also the more you split the pvc, it slows down the current. I have 1.5" Pvc from the pump all the way to the top of my tank where it meets a black fitting that sucks in air as the nozzle is under water (Ill post a pic of how i first had it. I just changes it Sunday so Ill get a update pic of it tomorrow).

I posted a pic of my pump... Model# GX18000
here is a link to the specs

My guy sits where he is or swims up on a slant on the driftwood. Almost a birdseye view from the front of the tank (Ganna have to snap a shot to show what I mean:D) and he swims around. Once the lights are out, its off to the races...up and down the tank. I have to say he can be pretty active at times (with the lights on you might catch him swim around once)

Oh yeah and in my last post I said 10-11". After measuring him i got 14":naughty:

I was about to say mine is 10-11" and your's looks much larger. Your's also has a lighter pattern than mine. Mine seems almost all black at times. Here's a pic. I got mine at 5" about 6 months ago. He's a slow but steady grower.

Yeah definitely probably about .75" per month really steady so far. He had one month where he probably did a lil more, but since then it's been the above rate. I understand it takes them along with all other members of brachyplatystoma a long time to reach full size. I also have a piraiba aka filamentosum, and it's growing slower than this guy. They end up at 8' or more in the wild. Must take them a century to get that size. As mentioned before they can reach 30", but I wouldn't expect much more than 24-28" max. Good luck when you get one. You'll be able to house one for a very long time in a 180.

alright thanks necro, so i decided to change my way in going about this tank, im going SA/CA. So i was going to get 4 peacock bass(ocelli) 1 Cincta pike cichlid, and 1 oscar. I have been told that the pike needs to be about 8-9" when the pbass are about 5" because the bass and oscar have a consideribly faster growth rate than the pike. So what about the juru? When do you think i should introduce the juru?
