Yea I love my guy he's the only fish I have with personality. It allows me to hand feed and hold it. He's on strictly shrimp but I've read in A LOT of thread that shrimp can cause long term effect due to the Thamine (more than likely spelt wrong). Gonna try and convert him into tilapia. But yea I think he looks awesome with his deformity lol

It disnt have straight lines. I remember something C Chicxulub posted about there patterns and picked one that had sort of odd dis-organized patterns in the hopes that it will get that mosiac look to it.
I also started mine off on shrimp it wouldnt take tilapia, im thinking the shrimp has a stronger odor but once it got going i starved it for a couple of days and then offered tilapia. I wish it would take pellets but iy completely ignores them
I dont think it will be hard just starve them fpr a few days. Could also start soaking the tilapia in boyds vita chem.
It's the first jur I see with an unusually short snout. I don't find it objectionable. Good job raising it. I'd just switch from shrimp-only diet sooner than later, as you said because of thiaminase.
I throw cut fish mixed with pellets in my tanks and some of my jurs grab pellets, mouth them, and spit out. That's a sign that they can be converted with some starvation and smell-faking, which I've never pursued.
