He can perch and does perch in the current, their is a powerhead as you can see, its powerfull enough that where he sits on the log he is in the current, when he swims above it he is stationary in the current.

As for the tetras being snacks so be it, if he feeds I'm happy regardless of what it is lol.

Unfortunately not able to put in a bare bottom tank, I wound down and broke down my 2 4 foot tanks so I only have this to grow hiom on in and my main tank.

As for food remaining in the tank under the powerhead there are still small bits of prawn, and blood worms are floating in the bubbles on the top still (ofc these will be removed if uneated for to long) so the tetras arent polishing everything off before he has a chance at it.

Mrs has just brought home some live brine shrimp, gonna put some of those in and see, like I said before I have been to the most local fish shop they dont have live bloodworms, the one 10 miles away never has any live food, and the Mrs has been to the only other one within a LONG range and they only had these brine shrimp live.

Hopefully he will eat :(

If there is one thing i have learnt over the years it is a spare cycled filter and tank ready for emergancy cases lie this and illness or unexpected compatibility problems is a must!

Yeah I know, and this IS the tank I use usualy, but I havnt bought any fish for a long time, bought the limas maybe 1 1/2 years ago, the tetras I bought a couple of months ago to keep the tank cycling and thats about it for literaly 8 years or so lol.

Well little update, I closed the curtains etc so the tank was in darkness as I was going out for the day, dropped one mealworm in whole and one chopped in half, and a defrosted bloodworm cube, when I came home he has a little fat tummy, not massively, but he HAS eaten SOMETHING, not sure if its bloodworm, or mealworm, but he has eaten so I'm currently over the moon :headbang2:woot::cool-1:

 guys.

Try this as I did it for mine when I first got him. I used a wooden skewer and put a piece of raw shrimp on the end and put it right in front of his face and he ate it. Don't use to big of a piece as he has to swallow it. I had two until they were eaten by my Frontosa. Good luck with yours!

Yeah we actualy tried something similar with tweezars but he wasnt interested, might try a toothpick or something, good idea.

What we are doing atm is he sits midway along the tank in the current, so we hold a bloodworm cube upstream and let it defrost in our fingers and he is taking the bloodworm as it goes past him in the current.

But he wont actualy go hunting for the bloodworm already past him though, hopefully he will in time.
