juruense gone crazy

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It is rather well known that brachies past certain size/age, especially tigs and jurs in any combo, are territorial and do not tolerate intruders, often even other similar-looking cats, like TSNs.

What happened is logical and is to be expected, IME, that of others, and based on their profiles. The opposite would be unnatural and strange. It was only a matter of time in a small enough tank. In a several 1000 gal, they may be ok.
yeah they are getting big, the jur is now 12" while the tig is around 10-11"; the tank is a 4' x 2' one... I will probably give the tig to my brother later, as he has a bigger tank...

Tbh, your tank is too small for the jur as well..

I had a seven inch juruense that hated all his tank mates I had a power head blowing at a piece of wood in the center of the tank and that was his favorite spot he would sit under the wood facing the power head and every time my silverdollars came near he would attack them and chase them away. unfortunately one night he accidently attacked one of my largest red tailed payara's and got bit, he didn't last long after that.:(

Yes, haters gonna hate... fish and people are just the same... :(

I hope it won't get 2' in soon future, otherwise I have to get a new tank or pass it to others...

Fair enough. Maybe think about upgrading. Big tanks are epic!

Thanks for referencing, Fleshy. It is vice versa - your thread is 10 days older than this one. I was so sure you must have seen it as it had been actively discussed that I didn't point it out :)
