So, have you decided against a clay-bottomed pond? EPDM liner is durable and much easier to install than cement. If you shop around you can get it reasonably cheap. It comes in various thicknesses; 45 mil is the one usually used for fish ponds.

no i am just seeing my options. I might go with cement being i can go acrosse the street and get it and can make a pond anysize rather than buying the "proper sized" liner

how much would cement for a 7ft wide 10ft long 5ft deep to 3ft deep pond be? People are saying around $700??!!!!

as for the digging what should i use/get? im definately digging the 5ft round 3ft deep pond myself but should i get a machine to dig the main pond? it would take a LONG time to do it myself

As for cement, you should get a quite from a local contractor, but yeah, it's going to cost you. The advantage is that, if laid down properly, you will never have to worry about it again. A good liner can last years or even decades, but cement will last for generations.

Renting an excavator or hiring somebody with an excavator are options for digging, but so is rounding up some friends for a good old fashioned pond-digging party. It's amazing how hard people will work for "free" beer.
