Im really interested in getting a flowerhorn. What size tank would do for a full size flowerhorn? They have to be completely alone, no other possible tank mates?

55g at least or greater and I have seen them with larger tin foil barbs, but you need several of them and 75g would be ideal.

40g breeders would work too....I have one in a 40gal (30L x 24H x 12D) right now and he is 10inches easy......but he is by himself.

Breeder tanks are best if you plan to keep multiple of them. It can be a very addicting hobby. Breeder tanks are wider and shorter, saves you more room for more tanks and more fish. 40 gal breeder and up would do just fine. A bonsai would do fine in a 20 standard, no smaller. 1 fish per tank only though if your going for breeder tank unless they are 48"+ where you can have dividers for them.

That's not as bad then. I have a 40g breeder. Just tough to get into a fish that has to be by themselves. I have a motoro ray n aro together n that's even fustrating me becuz anything I put in with them I have problems. I don't want to jam pack a tank but I'd like more than 1 fish in a tank lol

Yes I know where your coming from. We all like to have more than 1 fish in a tank. But you gotta do what you gotta do...:D

^^ Agree. They are very aggressive. They also get big. I have a parrot and FH in my 75 gallon but the FH is smaller then the parrot. Once my FH reaches maturiety I may have to seperate and give him the 75 gallon to himself, if you don't want to do that then maybe a FH is not a good choice for you.

Ehh...just because he said that you guys don't need to put him out so far from the hobby. His 40 gal breeder will do just fine for a good amount of time before he needs a new tank. Just buy a used tank off craiglist and built your own stand. It's not difficult at all...
