Would be interesting to know if these are banned in us as they also don’t fall under clariidae and have their own family. May be why they are sometimes seen??

I believe only some of the states still have restrictions on them, I think there was some article attempting to put them in the same super family. However as far as I found they technically legal, unless the state’s specific restricted species lists says Heteropneustidae.
