If you're planning on setting up that big tank in the future then get the slow growers growing now! Stock up on small Pseudas and other plecs so that by the time you get that big tank going they'll be a reasonable size.

that's not bad idea . I'll have look around. Seems things are finally looking up as far as my fish keeping is concerned

I've already got 10x clowns and a big (10") silver shark. the smallest clown is about 4" and the largest 9 1/2"

I know i've heard some people not recommending plecos and clown loaches together. But I've kept a school of them with my 13" l-600 for over two years now with no issues at all. And as was already stated, if you're looking to have some pseudas in the future, now would be the time to get them due to their painfully slow growth rate. And another option I'm thinking of for a mid swimmer would be datnoids. Probably because that's what I have in my tank lol.

Yh, I had my clowns in with rusty and an adonis with no problems. I reckon it'll be ok. I'll just keep a close eye. The datnoids idea is a pretty awesome one. I probably will get a dat. Anybody got an idea how long a 6x2x2 will last a black aro? I'm on the look out for Pseudas as we speak

The only problem I see keeping clowns and plecs is making sure the plecs get plenty of food, but is certainly possible. Dats would be a good choice as they aren't the fastest growers. I'd say if you started with a 4-5" black you would want to upgrade within two years, ideally.
