Just added nitrate remover!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Its all good:) The nitrates are now at zero and algae growth in my tank has slowed a lot! I scrubbed of any algae that was on the cuts made in the pvc to allow water onto the egg crate 2 days ago and now the algae seems to be more consistent on the egg crate.

No "Hard Time" intended, just the other stuff is more efficient and can support a denser algae growth.
How is your nitrate level?
Any measurable change yet?

I am very excited by this concept. But im troubled by the dearth of lively conversation by "the masters of Aquatics" that one would expect. This is so easy, so cheap and makes so much common sense. One question I have has to do with the compatibility with planted tanks. Does anyone have input here?

I think in the diy section there is a giant thread by Santamonica regarding ATS. Personally, the whole concept makes perfect sense to me. Someday I'm gonna add a sump and an ATS.

I'm suprised that there is not much more discussion on this topic all over this site.

Algae scrubbers have been discussed over and over.
Seems every so often it get`s brought up again, but many have already put in all they had to say about it.
You can see how many pages santamonica`s post rendered.

^ Yes I agree, but I wonder how many MFKers actually have ever heard of ATS?

Spiro, I have engaged Tom Barr and Gerry on the planted tanks site in an interesting discussion. Search Tom Barr and planted tanks.
