i used play sand worked great you just really have to do a well cleaning and i had to put
my bubble strips above my sand because it was loading my filters up other than that i love mine

yea i got mine bubbler off to the sides.. and my filter in the middle..but ive had the sand for about a month and it hasnt stop once.. my next stop threw the pet store im gunna get a couple of two way valves to slow down the bubbles

i used pool filter sand, rinsed it in a 5 gal bucket for a few min, let all the small stuff go away..... tank went foggy for a bit but i put my cichlids in and in about 36 hours it was all clear and they love it! its crazy to watch them dig
