Try that.......3492 FRT's and 700 Pytas in that one confiscation......

Hi batagur, the price of FRT in Indonesia has increasing a lot lately, compared to 2 years ago, they became more scarce in indonesia pet trade.

Right now, the price for one FRT baby is around 200.000-250.000 Rp in Indonesia (around 20-25 USD).

I think the price will continuously increasing, since this turtle often smuggled abroad.
FYI, in February 2010, the customs officer of Soekarno-Hatta Internasional Airport, Indonesia has managed to thwart the smuggling of 3492 pig-snout turtle along with 700 Ptyas korros to be exported to Hongkong.

Here is some pics of the incident, posted by ulersawo, member of Reptilx.com (Indonesian reptile forum)

Sad but at least they were able to stop them on their way out.Hopefully some of them can be placed in some type of rearing and breeding program.

Whoa....

Thats sickening, i dont get why we are so determined to ruin everything thats good about the world!! Really what is our problem!

Are they ok in that box without any water or anything? Are all of those wild caught?

Most of them would have died and most of them probably still will I doubt they have the means to take care of all those. I have been seeing alot more people getting them lately now we know why. I have been thinking about getting one but I wont be buying one now.

They would've been alright for the Plane ride, but they have to pass through many hands ( laundered ) before they hit the general buying public. That's what kills them........Those were hatchlings hatched from Eggs collected off nesting areas.......

Oh god, thats horrible! Having owned a couple (which i now feel bad and conflicted about) they are such inteligent animals with a real personality i couldnt have seen any harm come to mine, it would have been unbearable to even think of them being made to suffer, they were the reason i upgraded from a 150G to a 350G tank (even though they were still only reasoably small)

Thats just awful, taking hatchlings from nesting areas!!! How the hell do these people expect them to keep in existing in their natural habitat if they just take all the hatchlings!
I dont understand how people can be thet cruel, there is no more true saying than "money is the root of all evil"
It really makes me sick to think of the amount of these fantastic animals that have died, no more than a few weeks into their lifes:(
There are no words.......
