Yea my male is a little shy.....only 6" or so. He is coming out more and more and seems to be less scared when I am around. Anymore he will just stay where he is at in the tank an watch me when I first come in the room. After a few min. he starts going about his business digging, head shaking and doing dry runs as if he is fertilizing eggs. Once the lights go out in the room but his tank lights stay on he starts flying around the tank flaring at his reflection. I always wondered how long a shy one will stay shy...it's cool your not getting rid of him. I figured sooner or latter they will come out of the shyness....I have a hard time believing there are 16+ inch shy dovii.

Looks like he is coming out of his shell Bruce. My Midas male did something similar but is back to his old self now. I am sure he will be a beast in acouple more months.

He is coming out of his shell a little more since I removed the divider in the tank. He isn't taking to the female though. She is staying "hidden" behind the filter intakes all of the time. I'm going to give it a week and then put the divider back in if necessary.

I'm starting to wonder if I should just give up and put another male in there and start calling it the Brokeback tank.

I got lucky then! I got a wild pair from Ira and they spawned in 3 days. They're my first parachromis and I'm extremely excited to see them grow up. They are yellow dovii and I had never heard of them before.

Has anybody else ever had yellow dovii? I would love to see a pic of a full grown yellow male. I can't find many pics or info on them. I'll try to post some pics or video of mine.
