Bought it new from a LFS. Won't get it delivered until Friday June 20th.

My dad passed away unexpectedly on April 30th, and we shared the house. He didn't have a will, so the legal stuff will takre longer. I am the executer of the estate, it will go to probate. He had 2 life insurance policies, one kicked in. The other (bigger) one should soon. I don't plan on blowing through this money, I have more important things for it. I have already paid the lawyer, but I imagine there might be more lawyer fees in the future. Also, as the estate executer, I will need some of this money to clean uo his debts when it goes to probate. But I had enough cushion to pick up this 150 comfortably.

The basement here is unfinished. There is a front room in the basement that is rather dank, dark, unused (except for storing junk), slighly damp, and cobweb filled. But I think it can become a useful fish room with some work, I'll post a cople pics of how the room looks now a little later.

The 150 pretty much comes with everything to get started. The filter it comes with is an FX5, never had one, so if someone tells me what filter media I should get I would appreciate it. I plan to take one of the 2 Aquaclear 110s off my 90 and attach it to the 150 to help mature the aquarium. I will buy a new AQ 110 for the 90.

I ordered a black framed 150. The gravel I ordered is kind of a river bed colored tannish type of pebbles. I don't have a background yet. Plan to make it dark, or maybe the mirror style I have on the 90. I don't have any dfriftwood yet, I plan to look for some pretreated pieces. I also will scour the Mad River for rocks like I've done before, beats paying for them, and sometimes I even catch some crayfish in the process!

As far as fish go, I have three little Hemichromis frempongis that are due to arrive tommorrow morning. They will be placed in one of my other aquariums until the 150 arrives, then they will go in there when it's ready. I'm still thinking about the other tank inhabitants. I want them to be at least the same size as the frempongis or slightly larger. I'm thinking:
3 or 4 grammodes
OR
3 or 4 cubans
OR
3 or 4 mayans
OR
2 or 3 Red Tiger Motags

If this aquarium works out and the probate works out as expected, I would like to add a 180 down there some day, along with some smaller aquariums. I don't think I can manage to squeeze much larger than a 180 down the basement steps, the narrowest point leading down there is 27.5 inches, and a 180 is 24 inches wide. It's hard for two people (two each end) to get good leverage in a tight space going down stairs.

Oh yeah, the other fish I have on order for tommorrow morning are eight .75inch Neetroplus nematopus and one 1.5 inch sagittae. So I guess I have enough going on to keep me busy. The sagittae may end up in the 150 with the frempongis, it's the same length. I haven't decided yet.

sorry for your lost bro.
the basement is a fixerupper, but will do.
4 cubans would be nice.

use ceramic rings in the fx5 along with the foam around the sides of the trays but dont use the big round polishing pad they clog too damn fast

def will be some work, but i love project like that, i bet u can make it look great

sorry for ure loss

id go with grammodes/cubans.
