Just bought a new buddy

Well I was cruisin my local pet stores yesterday actually looking for fish. My mom happened to be with me and wanted to get me something since I had not gotten a birthday present from her yet. I went to the reptile section of my one store and they had a tegu for sale. I've always wanted one and have researched them a whole lot just haven't seen them for sale a whole lot locally. He was labeled as a golden but I'm not 100% sure cuz he looks a lot like a black and white. He's about a 10" in total length right now. I'm keeping him in a 75 gallon until I can build him a better enclosure, he has eco earth for bedding, two hide spots, a large water dish, with a heat mat, 150 watt(or maybe its a 100) heat lamp, and a UVA bulb.

Was curious what you guys thought of this setup for now.....he seems to be doing quite well fitting into his new home........
 
awesome, you will like him a lot. enjoy! and can you post some pics?
 
Here's some crappy pics.........I had him in a tank with a heat bulb on it when I brought him home and was setting up his 75 and took a few pics so that's what these are........

FYI this is not his tank.....

Maybe you guys could give me a definite ID too........

Thanks it was in july but a present is good no matter when it comes.......

I understand the golden's can be extermely aggresive.....Has anyone on here had any experience?

This one has not gone to bite or tail whip yet, definetly does not like to be handled too much but really isn't that bad at all from what I've heard about them.
 
I guess I'm not really looking for help just more seeing if anyone on here has had personal experiences with the breed.........thank you though latshki i'll keep the forum in mind an might take a look at the forum
