does anyone have any clues or do they have a bad rap for being junk i did every thing i was supposed to do to prime it and everything...HELP!!

Howdy,

If it doesn't work, just bring it back . Not sure what advice you are looking for. If you want a long-lasting reliable filter, then check out the respective sticky in this forum. Eheims do pretty well.

Best of luck,
HarleyK

I have both a filstar and an eheim, I would buy 10 more filstars before I bought another eheim.

Could you explain better what problem you are having with it?

Is the motor spinning? Is the impellar seated properly? Is the caniseter completly full of water or is there a small air gap? Are the hoses full of water, BOTH of them?

I've had two xp3's running for a few years now. Worked great right out of the box and still going fine.

it looks like maybe there is a part missing the in flow comes in and it blows water in the canister and not up to the tank so i put a cap in the spot where all the water was blowing and it started to blow into the tank and now its running..?.. no does any one know about this???

Pictures are worth a zillion trillion words...especially if you are not using factory nomenclature...

If you will use the names of the parts like the manual does, somebody will know what you are trying to describe, and you'll get top drawer help...

Many members use the Filstar line of canisters, and they work just fine...
Good "bang for the buck"...

It's just probably something simple...this your 1st canister filter?

yes im only used to trikle filters.. i will try and get a pic..

Well...if there is maybe a part missing and it still does not work I would suggest taking it apart, checking if you have all the pieces and going from there. Much simpler that way than guessing I have learned. Make sure all caps and pieces are tight, oftentimes my xp3 has small issues after taking it apart and everytime it is because a piece of the intake is loose, or the prime cap is not sealed on tight enough, or there is air in the canister itself.

Does it work at all? Like said above real words and pics or better details would help you out.
