Hello again--

I just bought some awesome peacocks yesterday. The LFS got them in on Monday, and I grabbed the last 5 good ones (males) on Tuesday. I'm going to need your help ID-ing them. They were in the "assorted" tank.

I'm fairly sure at least one of them is a Ruby Red or Rubin Red--although I don't know if there's a difference.

One of them is a neon yellow-green with a dark blue head. Not just the bottom jaw, but the whole head. I'm sure they're all hybrids, but they look awesome.

The other one is a dark metallic blue with dark vertical stripes. They all have the exaggerated fins.

I'll post some photos tonight. I'll see if I can get them to sit still long enough!

Tease us and then we have to hurry up and wait for pictures.

Looking foward to the photos.

Sorry to keep you hanging. I just couldn't wait until I got home to post my excitement. OK--I am no photographer and the camera I used is actually a digital video camera, but I'm hoping someone can help me ID these fish.

Go to my personal gallery, <-- over there, to the left, and click on "New Peacocks" After looking online, I guesstimated what I thought they were, so I am open for corrections.

Thanks!

the first one looks possibly lwanda peacock but wait till more color comes out and get more pics of him, the orange and yellows are probably rubins, the yellow could be a baenchi... we will wait for the experts to weigh in :)

Nice looking peacocks! I agree with greenearth, think you have a couple of Rubins?

Here's my thought. I bought them all from the same LFS and they all came in the same day. It figures they were all raised by the same breeder. I read online that there is a lot of inbreeding of peacocks going on, and so I thought they were probably just mixes of different peacocks.

I agree it will be better when they get bigger to get more details on their colors. I really wish I had a good camera and could show you the details and the true colors. Oh well. Thanks for looking at them. They are doing well. Eating, hanging out and not hiding. Their main "bully" is a Taiwan reef peacock that just got bumped up from the bottom of the pecking order--so I'm feeling he'll mellow out. If he gets too aggressive, there are plenty of (all the) others that keep him in line.

I can see why avid cichlid hobbyist just do haps and peacocks! They're awesome!

I think they look to be pure strains and have good colorations~ and those are good sizes to find at a lfs although Rubins are all linebred and not 100% natural so to speak... can you copy and paste your pics so they are more visible on this thread?

Hmm. I can't seem to paste them here. How can I do that?
