Lids serve two purposes for keeping bichirs in my eyes, too. One, they keep'em from going walkabout(that air breathing capability, they like to explore) and two, it keeps the air at the surface humid(just 'cuz they breathe air doesn't mean they like dry air)

Looks dark for a senegal...I would skip the shrimp pellets because they make a mess and move right on to Hikari Carnavoire pellets.
