:)Hi all, nearly doing my head in this now but the tank water will not clear, by clear i mean crystal clear, i am doing the same as my tank i had a few year back but it still has a colour to it but only while looking down the length of it. i want to sort this as i am building a 7x4x3 which will mainly be looked at down the length, so if i cant sort this 6x2x2 out then i will have no chance on the bigger tank.

Spec

150g (UK) 6x2x2
PH 7,2
Amm 0
nittrie 0
nitrate 25
sand substrate
50g sump circulating around 850gph
Lighting is a 24inch standard 25w fresh water strip.

fish

2, 6 inch motoro rays
1, 7 inch TSNxRT
3, 3 inch silver dollar
2 6 inch severums
1 6 inch silver arroana

Been doing a 75% WC weekly and a weekly clean of the tank.
I dont leave uneaten food in the tank.

All fish are fine and happy, eating always

Any ideas whats going wrong, looks fine from the front just down the length, i will get pics later and post them to give a better idea.

Thanks folks

Is there any particular colour (milky white, green etc) or is it just that you can see tiny particles floating around?
Any chance there's air getting into the return causing micro air bubbles?

If clarity is really that important to you, maybe you should look into ozone filters. I wouldn't do it, honestly, but it's always an option.

add fx5 as your mechanical......it will be clear in no time or throw two ac110 on it...................

+1 ???

Not knowing what exactly the type of clarity issue you're having as people asked above, it's hard to make a suggestion, but an old school trick is to cut back on cleaning (keep up on water changes though)--for whatever reason it seems to clear the water up usually. This will obviously not help with algae or tannins.

As the previous posters have suggested, we need to know the color. A pic would be better which you said you would be putting up soon.

I have been able to clear out almost all cloudy issues (with the exception of algae blooms in the water and micro bubbles of course) with SeaChem's Clarity. It will make the water look odd at first, and if it does, that means it's working. Give it some time and once it clears, water will look great.
