Yah I've seen them at at least 1 shark dealer, I'm sure there are others as well.
A bull shark being sold in captivity?!?!? Even with a permit, it would have to be 54" long to remove it from the ocean. I would not want to handle a live 54" bull shark on a boat just to make a buck selling it to some hobyist that probably can't keep it alive. Maybe in a public aquarium they would have the facilities to maintain such a beast? They grow to 10+ feet long and weigh in at over 500lbs?!?! Can you imagine the food bill and filtration/ electric/ water bills?!?!?
That is very true also question do you guys know of any true FW stingrays that arent in the family Potamotrygonidae that can be found for sale??It does appear that supplier is for public aquariums. Though it would not surprise me if there was a way to procure one privately. I have found with this hobby just because you shouldn't, doesn't mean you can't.
I don't think there are any commonly available, and if so they would cost top dollar. As mentioned before, the only other rays known to inhabit freshwater are the Niger rays and Giant stingrays in AsiaThat is very true also question do you guys know of any true FW stingrays that arent in the family Potamotrygonidae that can be found for sale??
Do you think that maybe any importers may in counter them and sale them???I don't think there are any commonly available, and if so they would cost top dollar. As mentioned before, the only other rays known to inhabit freshwater are the Niger rays and Giant stingrays in Asia
Oh so maybe no rays.........I have not ever seen accounts of Niger rays being kept outside of research environments, as for the Giant ray..

I'd cut the loss on rays for now.
Dont get me wrong they are beautiful its just more of the allure to sharks and rays that I find interesting and also hillstream loaches grow too small and they need a cooler temperature than I will like to provide. There are always Beaufortia kweichowensis.
