Just curious what's a 12" albino pacu worth

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Pacus are in a league of the own when it comes to monsters man. The majority of people cannot house one. I was at another members last night who has a albino pacu an he has a 500 gallon and he said he's going to have to upgrade just for the pacu if he decides to keep it.

I agree with this. The mentality that "well this fish was $10 at 2" surely make it $100 now at 10" l especially if its a common species. Not all species gain value because they grow. Or you see the person with a $2 convict that trying to sell it for $50 just because its 6". This happens a lot of craigslist here And then months later the seller finally figures it out and lowers the price by more than half lol

But honestly a pacu is a pacu, it was still bought like regular pacus at 2" because it was cute for the 55g and grew to 1' in a year. Regardless how rare it is doesnt mean many people can house a 1'+ fish. $20-$30 max for over 7"

I've seen albino pacu for free around my area but I've also seen them for a few (maybe $20) . Pacu are difficult to keep because they get so tall as well as long. A big catfish can be kept(although not too happily) in a much smaller tank that a big pacu, relatively speaking. Iridescent sharks are even worse than pacus because they need even more swimming space.

The guy never got back with me tonight anyway so it looks like I'm not going to pick it up tomorrow thanks anyway :)

^^ don't you hate when that happens? Seriously, emergencies happen but more often than not people just flake/ignore others and its just annoying after a while.
