just finished my first overflow.

What Pharaoh is telling you is very true. That low of a flow greatly increases your chances of the siphon breaking on that overflow.

If you can't bump up the flow gph now then you need to hook the check valve on the top U to the venturi of a power head to continually pull the air out of that top U.

Those hardwood floors will hate you if the tank overflows. And with the low flow that is a great possiblity.

found one of my exodons swimming in the pipe, so i had to fashion some kind of screen.

cut a piece of eggcrate and shoved it in the pipe. looks small enough so they dont get in there again.

Yeah I know. I already dumped a 150 onto that floor. Then I got to. Replace the furniture.too. Lucky me. Hahaha.

Good call on the PH though.

How low of a flow can I get away with this set up? (3/4 id?)
I want to keep it as low as possible.

the power head will keep the overflow air free. So the siphon will not break as long as there is allways water availiable.

Meaning if you were to leave the power head running and do a water change. Then it could be possible for the PH to suck all the water out of the over flow. And once the tank was refilled you could possibly get a spill before the PH could remove all the air once again.

But that is a big COULD. As long as you unplug the PH along with the pump at water change time it will be fine.

did you even read? just post? :screwy:

Your high level of tact is astounding. And yes, apparently I missed/skimmed over that part.

Nice. Going into a bare bottom tank?
