not to be a debbie downer... but i dont think either of those are EBJD's...

Both are EBJD's. Just washed out due to light colored substrate.

blue gene

A Blue Gene Jack Dempsey (BGJD) is the result of an EBJDxJD pairing. The fry look like 100% regular jack dempsey's but they carry the blue gene.

I repeat, they look 100% like regular JD's so there is no way of telling if it is a JD or a BGJD. You can't tell someone they have what looks like BGJD ;)

I didnt want to say anything since i've talked too much.. but yes.. i agree completely.. :)

nice ebjd's. with a good diet they should get some really nice color. and I am not sure about this but I noticed that my regular jd loses alot of her color when stressed. so maybe in a few days they should look a little more colorful

I couldn't include the two pics from the previous page in a quote but...

I am not convinced the fish in the top pic is a Blue Dempsey... I've seen 'light blue' ones, 'powder blue' ones and 'pale blue' ones... but that one looks like a light/pale standard Dempsey to me...

The fish in the second pic is very obviously a Blue Dempsey...

I 100% agree with what MacFish pointed out... 'Blue Gene' Dempseys and Standard Dempseys have absolutely no visual differences. To tell someone their fish looks like a 'Blue Gene' Dempsey is to profess you have very limited knowledge/understanding of Blue Dempseys. The one and only way to tell a 'Blue Gene' from a standard is to breed them...

That has been a pet peeve that has driven mre crazy for years... Speculation like this should be avoided and stopped. It promotes misinformation and misunderstanding which leads to poor managment and maintenance of our fish. Preventing such issues is the whole reason these forums exist isn't it? So please do not promote speculation.
