If you cannot determine the difference between an analogy and actually calling someone a Nazi, then you yourself are not educated. Pulling something out of context and then inferring what you think I was saying also is not how a discussion works. If I wanted to call everyone a Nazi or "Hitler", then I would have come out and said it. Instead, I used an analogy. By definition, "drawing a comparison in order to show a similarity in some respect." I was over the topic before it began, but I felt I wanted to express my opinion. Unless of course I am not allowed to do so? Interesting.
Calm down.............................:chillpill:

All is good with the Universe.

I value the different opinions.
And find it very entertaining to read.

I think people say anything they what on the internet, just like on the phone.
You are not face to face so no risk .

More honesty than we can handle.(humans as a race are very cruel)

I am calm. I just don't like it when things get pulled out of context. When I write something, I write it at face value. If I meant to write something else, then it would have been written. In any case, I am about done with this thread anyway. The discussion was fun, but really isn't going anywhere. Probably should be closed. Good luck to you ddyerfamily. I hope the Angels get a good home and get a chance.

However, just because we create the animals does not mean we are empowered to perform natural selection. If they are genetically weak and predisposed to death, then they will die off naturally. Much like a 500 count fry….500 will hatch, but by the next day, only 350 are remaining. They died off because they could not adapt to their environment and nature saw it fit to eliminate them from the population. The aforementioned angels survived and are still attempting to grasp hold of life. If nature saw it fit, then they would have died already.[/COLOR]

Then again, the true application of natural selection to this situation would not apply because we are not truly in a naturalistic situation. If these Angelfish were in the middle of a river, then no one here can for sure say they would have died. What it all really boils down to is how each one of us keeps our fish. To each their own. Peace.

This article might be of some interest to you.

Captive breeding 'weakens'
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/7026997.stm

Natural selection does exisit in captivity but certainly not to the degree it does in the wild, no where near. While 2 out of 500 fry might survive in the wild 300 out of 500 will likely survive in captivity. There is virtually no predation, no competition, no real environmental challenges. Since we humans have took it upon ourselves to reproduce animals outside of the wild we must also take it upon ourselves to try to do what nature cannot, especially if we want a better "product". Now I don't like to consider living things as products but they are reared and sold as such and the only reason they exisit in captivity is to supply a demand. We are the natural selection in captive situations and need to use our knowledge to do what nature cannot. The only reason those angelfish exist is because someone wasen't doing what they should have, culling.

Definitely an interesting article. I do agree with your point. I reached that point at the end of my other post when I realize natural selection in its truest form could not be applied to the situation at hand. I guess, I should probably never breed fish, as I would not be capable of performing natural selection. I also would like to point out that I appreciate your discussion with me about this topic.

As do I. Proof that civil discussion can exist. I also would not be good at breeding as a career at least. I don't like culling, except for perhaps as feeders. At least then they serve a greater purpose in life. But I'm not really into killing anything. I have kept culls before and if I ever make the mistake of buying them I don't kill them but those were typically smaller fish. I have kept cyprinids with bent spines. A brichardi with a deformed jaw, stuff like that. But if I were presented with 6 deformed adult angelfish I'm not sure what I would do. They do demand a lot of space and attention.

Have any cats?! :naughty:

I would keep them alive. Maybe try to take them back to the breeder.

The fish have gotten some size to them, so they are able to live on their own. If you had posted pictures of the fish on life support then I would say pull the plug.

As I see it, you've said something indirectly so once you were called on it you can back out. Its usually the way people go around things, and you're given no special treatment.

Welcome to the internet !!! Where your opinion means nothing and your one sided views are mocked.
