Just got a short body venustus

Venustus can get up to 10-12" in length. They need a 120 gallon aquarium.

I hope this little guy reaches that, but most likely he'll be a few inches shy of the max. Never know though, I guess we will see.

Not dead sure such a creature exists, no really info online except this thread, nothing about them on any availability list I've ever seen...

there is no such thing.It's growth was stunted due to some moron keeping it in a small tank,or just birth defects,or something else bad.that's why it was free.thanks for sharing

The short bodied-venustus is there sitting right before your very eyes. It apparently does exist lol.
The short-bodied trait IS a genetic defect and it can be found in other species of cichlid and other fish. There's a whole thread on it somewhere.
