Just got me a new Ball python but what is really?

okay well my lil bro went to our lfs looking for coolio bigginer snake and picked out a BallPython for 35$ then we come home and set up his home and go back to pick up something we forgot this time the manager is there and tells us that the snake we picked up is a speacial type of ball python that if bred with the other sex will make a Ball python taht goes for 1200 $ on average i dont know if this is true yet i forgot the name he called it. i hope somone can tell me if this is true.

Can't tell if it is het for anything by pics, sorry bud. Only the breeder who produced the snake can tell you that, and even then, you don't know if he is lying or not.

Het stands for heterozygous. Look it up on wiki for a more detailed explanation, as it can be confusing.


Basically, lets say you are carrying the gene for color blindness. You are not colorblind, but you are het for being colorblind. This means that there is a chance that your child will be born colorblind, if you "mate" with the right woman.


That is a EXTREMELY watered down version, but you should get the picture. Like that ball, there is no way of knowing if you are carrying that gene by just looking at you.

not a pastel, it's a normal with a nice lighter pattern.

could be a het, but there is no visual way to tell. most common hets are usually het pied and het albino, but you can't call it a het unless it's confirmed by the breeder.
