Dude, honestly, you probably killed your fish. Bag buddies are fine for payara. They're (especially tats) not as sensative as everyone keeps saying. They're nothing compared to scombs. Anyways, the point is that you don't grab a fish and swish him around in the tank to try to get oxygen to run through their gills. You can hold them infront of a filter outlet if you absolutely have to, but I'd still recommend against it. Payara have very fine scales that come off very easily. You could have given it a secondary infection from handling it. I bet if you were more patient and just let the fish adjust with as little external stress factors as possible (lights off, no other fish in the tank, etc.) it would have made it. You probably just drove it's stress level through the roof.
