Unfortunately they're still small and camera shy, so I took some shots of some of my other fish (some are from TUIC).

My TUIC bifasc:

My mota:

My Mota and her new boyfriend, my TUIC Hatian cichlid with the broken jaw:

My pair of Jags:

More of my Jags:

My Jag Yawning:

I promise to post shots of my grammodes once they beef up a bit. Until then, hope you enjoyed.

Oh, and I meant to ask. I think that the jags are a pair. Can someone confirm that the larger one is male?

You have some amazing Cichlids my friend, nice job on getting a pair of jags to be in a community tank, good work.

Very nice red tiger mota. One of the fish I must have.

The Hait's jaw doesn't look broken to me, it looks like a full on birth defect.

I'd say both the jags are female. Males tend to lose the horizontal barring when they become sexually mature. Though I have been wrong on jag sexing before. Two females is probably a good thing though, since they're in a community tank.

If the bigger of the two is the same one you had in your tank last week, my guess is male. It's spotting looked alot darker in person, and the shape of the body had male written all over it (more streamlined, finnage color more defined, etc). Please correct me if i'm wrong here.

How are your grammy's making out so far?

Yeah, I figure that I'll probably have to move the jags to their own tank if they turn out to be male and female.

The jaw on the hatian used to be perfectly normal when he was received from Rapps. I picked it up from a friend a month or so ago when he decided to swap this male for another male he had in another tank. It certainly could look like a birth defect, but I had seen him when he was younger, and my friend had mentioned that it was a single event. One day while the two were spawning he went to work, when he got back, the jaw was totally messed up. I personally think its great though. It's the only way I could keep a "Black Nasty" in with any of those fish. I figure once the Jags move out he'll be fine with the bifasc and the Oscar until I get yet another tank for him...and maybe his little mota gf (though I can't see this relationship lasting long. I know a fella that just picked up six from Rapps who may have some available as soon as he has a pair form.

Oh, PS modest...that is an amazing pic of a JD in your avatar.

M, didn't know you were on this forum! Yeah, it's the same one. I just thought I'd get opinions from a few others as well :)

Hey, I don't claim to be a Jag expert, LOL. Hopefully a few others on here will verify though!

Keep us updated on the grammodes!
