how come at petstore there was like 10 of each big and tiny in a 20 gl and noone were fighting.
i watched them swimming around for 15 mins none nipped any other .

Perhaps because there was no territory to defend. If there is a lot of open space there should not be too much aggression, if any at all. I am dealing with this problem right now. I have some africans defending rocks and sand bed territory. It gets ugly at times.

Yeah, like somebody said, when you cram a bunch of them into one, small, empty tank, they have nothing to fight anout. No territory to defend, and no territory to fight for.

Here is what is best about these guys. They attack each other without warning. It is crazy. I have never been able to keep more than one male long term in any 4ft or my 6ft 135. If they do attack it will be too soon too late.

Also never think if it works in one tank, or the pet shop (which is the worse, they clean dead fish out of their tanks all day. Even the good ones) that it will work for you. Not trying to be mean or rude, just a fact. These guys are mean! I love my guy, so don't get me wrong!
