I do not know what they are but the size of the eye and the mouth shape says predator. So I would try some guppies or platy's. You might also post them up for id in the characins section.

Thanks hybridtheory. I think they're a type of cyprinid though. They are definately predatory as mine wiped out 30 feeder minnows overnight. Im so tempted to get more of these guys since they're so cool. I'll be happy if these guys get 6"+ :D
 
haha these guys will max out at 20cm ( 8" ) accordin to fishbase.... but one thing though, on fishbase, it was zacco platypus... and this is macrolepis.... pretty sure they get the same size ....

they are definitely cyprinid ...

The Zacco Genus falls into the family of Cyprinidae(Minnows and Carps), judging from the size of the mouths on your fish, I think they might have been mis labled.. Your fish look like little predators, rather than herbivores.. Very nice specimen tho..

Not at the moment lol. Where are you located? I might know of a few stores around my area that has some. Also, check with Wes ( fugupuff ), he has a few of these and Im sure with a bit of convincing, he might be willing to let a few go. Thanks for the info and compliments everyone :D
