just got this pair

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
there was only one group of this species collected, they were collected fom lake kanyaboli { porbabally misspelled that} they were collected by dr. paul loiselle in the 1990's any way there are alot of folks selling xystichromis phytophagus. some are the real deal and some have been hybridized, some ever so slightly. this is one of the things about victorians that has to be watched, never believe any one who says that they have a f/o,f1,f2,f3 and so on. if they claim that they are that fresh out of the wild than insist that they provide some kind of proof. and ask for verification from the transshipper, copies maybe of customs reciepts. and so on. any legit dealer will do thier very best to help.
i have found it helpfull to post on several boards and get several diffrent opinions, and ask questions. since victorians display very diffrent colors and patterns depending on several diffrent factors, its always a good idea to get as many pics as possible in there various displays, this is often helpfull.

as for the fish in question i would stillm ask for some more pictures.
i myself have and currently keep and spawn phytophagus for several years.

hill country cichlid club is a joke they all think they are experts there its kinda funny!but you have a fulu 100 percent sure its not even close to a flameback its just been line breed alot is all but it is a fulu :headbang2

You think the HCCC is a joke? I take that as an insult as I am a member on there and there are many victorian experts on there such as Greg Steeves, Samaki, Dave, and deadman himself etc. I respect the people on the HCCC and I can count on them with any questions I have with victorians. That site is full of victorian hobbyists who are willing to help out with the hobby by preserving and keeping victorians by breeding them and spreading them throughout to other hobbyists and so on. I think it is very funny that you believe the HCCC is a joke, because I think you are the one who's a big joke. What do you have to contribute about victorian cichlids? What do you know of victorians? Care to share your knowledge? What kind of victorian cichlids have you kept and own? What have you done for the hobby? How do you know that its a fulu, what conistutes it as a fulu? It definitely is from the Xystichromis genus, but we will need better pics of the fish fully colored for an accurate ID. :FIREdevil :FIREdevil :FIREdevil:angryfire :angryfire :angryfire

The best colors are yet to come. I didn't recognize you until I looked at your pictures. Are you still on "fish rescue" duty?

I'm going to say Fulu, but couldn't be 100% without better pics.
