Really high-tech... Rona/Home Depot brand under-cabinet track lighting!
Xenon is the new Halogen; it's much cooler, brighter, and longer-life than halogen but with the same natural look, imo. I have 3 bulbs over the tank, in a plastic enclosure.
I am thinking lately tho of supplementing the xenon with some white LED's to help the fish colouration pop a bit more.
