API Liquid test kits aren't always the easiest to read. It's under 20ppm because that's the color range it best fits (10ppm - 20ppm). For all I know it could be 8 or 9 but that is still under 20ppm.

My point is, that to create that kind of bioload in a tank that large with juvie fish, you're WAY overstocked, and it's only going to get worse.

I'd start thinning now if I were you, and just let your fish grow into their home.

I said below 20ppm because I don't have the exact number on hand at this exact second.

Bioload isn't my concern on this one.

If bioload isn't your concern, what is?

What, exactly, are you looking for? Positive affirmation that your tank will be just fine, and life is gravy? It's not, and it won't.

You're seriously overstocked right now, as it is, and they're still all juvies.

Reading a few of your posts, including the one in this thread, seriously, what is your problem?

What am I looking for out of this thread - I'm looking for if my stock is totally way over the top in terms of being overstocked or not. I may be newish to CA and SA but by no means am I new to the hobby.

And no, bioload isn't my concern, I do my WC every Tuesday, it's Monday today - you do the math, nitrate picture below. Oh and I would like to add, notice how my nitrates are below 20ppm.

And my life is actually pretty gravy, worse then some, better then others - thank you for asking :D

IMO its the 15 Tinfoil Barbs that you need to get rid of. They get very large anywhere from 10-14 inches and grow fast.

They're Tiger Barbs, grow to 2-2.5". I realize they might become lunch but have read people having good results with them as a dither...but on the same foot I've read others that they did become snacks. So hoping my cichlids will leave em be.

Because I gave an answer to a question you asked, and you didn't like that particular answer, *I* have a problem? Nooo... I haven't got a problem. You asked if you were overstocked, and you are. It really is as simple as that.

It's the same attitude that was shining through on a thread that is few posts down with that one guy who was asking about mixing SA/CA with Africans. There were many people who informed him it wouldn't work and why but you had to add the personal bash on there.

He's new to the forum, heck, probably new to the hobby and doesn't really know much. With a response like that the chances of him returning to this forum and learning how to care for his stock is right next to the number zero.

These forums are here for others to ask questions, get help, talk about their tanks, share their experiences, share pictures and videos of their fish and in general talk shop about their hobby. Getting flamed, bashed, personally attacked, etc. has no place here. I am unsure why you feel the need to respond to threads so aggressively and with so much attitude but in a friendly community forum you'll find that it's not appreciated and not welcomed.

And being upfront, honest and straight to the point is one thing but it's not what I'm talking about.

Sounds like you have absolutely no idea of what you are talking about.

Aqualoon, as long as you keep reading your nitrate levels as your fish grow, you can then determine yourself when/if you are overstocked.

Personally i do a waterchange whenever i can detect nitrates, reguardless what day of the week it is. But i am probably pretty extreme when it comes to my water quality.

I think though, as long as you stay below 20ppm, you will be just fine.

Space and aggression is another, and much more tricky side of "overstocking".

Everything is still juvies so never reach above 20ppm a week...so when I do my weekly water changes it dips even lower then that.

Water changes will be increased in size and amount depending on nitrates.
Since everything is still small and the aquarium is large, you could just view this setup as a grow out tank. I believe that you will be very overstocked once these fish mature and become quite larger though. For now, monitor the fish and see how they grow and interact with one another. As time progresses you'll be able to see which fish will have to go. I'm pretty certain you'll find that some of those fish will have to go too. Some may have to be removed due to aggression, growth, or failing water conditions. Good luck with your decision and enjoy the variety as long as you can.
