exactly. any other stats being proposed on this are mere guesses. we can't throw out any numbers because no one knows. one can speak a bit to general frequency with FLGs...they are more restricted in populations than all other gar species except the Cuban. so if you figure those populations are further broken up into various lakes, canals, etc...if there is low gene flow then you would expect a higher frequency in some isolated populations than others.
this is why we see more gold FLGs than any other species (or at least is the most logical explanation we have so far).
