Sorry about your loss :(

i've had the same luck similarly. i had a 4" tsn. he always sat at the bottom and only moved to feed on the bottom. not once have i ever seen him venture to the surface. i had a 2.5" jardini who was super active and feeding well in my 60 gallon. plenty of space as well as hiding places for both. the jar always hid behind the overflow box. came home one night and the jar was missing. at first i thought he jumped. then i took one look at the tsn, guilt all over his fat belly. i was so upset. Notice im referring to both fish in past tense. Obviously the jar was devoured. i wasnt sure how long ago, so in hopes of rescuing the more costly fish, i perform a C section on the tsn. out came the jar like a new born in the stomach sac and both fish presumed "without life" at 10pm. heartwrenching. but lucky for you guys. i took photos. i will post them once i get the chance if you're interested. I know i know, shoulda left the tsn alive, but i was so angry i had to take it out on something. i felt betrayed. it was like there was an understanding between the two of us and he abused it. Both are missed. lesson learned. no more cats with expensive fish!
