After many years of keeping/breeding more fish (CA & SA Cichlids) than any sane person would, I’ve dropped down to a mere 300 gallons of fish tanks and gravitated more towards reptiles…

Intro Overview of my Ball Pythons…

Male Pastel: Born 8/2/10; 27.5” @ 299 grams on 1/9/11

Eagerly eats f/t mice at every feeding, very active snake. Deep bright yellow holding well, nearing shed in these pics.

Female Pinstripe: Born 8/21/10; 20.5” @ 192 grams on 1/9/11

A little more hesitant to eat but still growing nicely. I’ve also only had her a month so she’s just getting regulated.

Female Super Pastel: Unknown Hatch Date (late summer to Fall ‘10); 20” @ 148 grams on 1/9/11

She's been here less than a week and has already eaten a f/t mouse.

well u started off with the right ones lol they r gorgeous. id try and get them on to rats asap though. i think its something like 6 mice to a rat fuzz, nurtritional value wise.

some beautiful snakes x

You have a lovely trio of balls. Both the pinstripe and pastels are stunning.

Those are beautiful snakes! I've only ever seen the black/brown ball pythons... didn't even know these were out there.

Nice!

I know nothing about snakes, but they are undeniably beautiful...

Thanks for the compliments!

Pastel seems to enhance everything, which is why I went heavy on the pastel. I'm not a real fan of the Ball Python pattern so I gravitate toward pattern morphs.

Spiders are the most popular pattern morph, and for good reason! But they come with a horrible "head wobble" and this genetic 'retardation' is not something I would be comfortable proprogating. So I went with pinstripes, which is also a stunning pattern morph.

I've read this theory a lot, but in my research I have not found facts to support it. I do agree that for most snake species, including Ball Pythons, it's best to feed a single prey item per meal. So for that reason moving on to rats is important. But until they outgrow the adult mice I'm quite comfortable using them.

gonna make some butters soon?

Butter Ball Pythons are actually a seperate (Co-Dominant or Incomplete Dominant) morph. But it's funny you mentioned them, as my next BP purchase will be a female Butter.

I love the normal (or 'wild type') color and pattern of Boa Constrictors, but I'm honestly not a fan of normal (or 'wild type') Ball Pythons color nor pattern.

If interested, google the term "list of Ball Python Morphs" and you will find a variety of websites displaying a very wide array of morphs and morph combinations available on the market. There are some amazing BPs available these days, although the price tags on some of them are truly frightening (unless your the breeder!)

And coming from "the coolest chick on MFK" that is truly flattering ;)

I've kept a couple BPs in the past but have never been a real 'fan' of them. But now with the prospect of breeding them and the addition of alternative colors and patterns... I must admit they have really captured me...

Thanks again for the comments... I look forward to sharing updates as they grow & mature. Feel free to throw out any Ball Python questions, comments, facts or theories...
