Hello, so I just ordered a 1 inch Datnoides Microlepsis off a reputable site, I’ve wanted one of these guys for awhile now but haven’t been lucky finding one in my area, anyways I’ve heard and seen these guys are very very slow growers ( a couple years ago I bought one at an inch and 8 months later he was 4 inches only lol) so for the meantime I have a 40 breeder ready to go with a bunch of decorations and I’m keeping the water at about 80, I’m not sure whether I wanna try and feed pellets or go with live food ( livebearers not goldfish) I’ve heard pellets can make the growing process take double the time, any advice on growth and feeding?

Get it on Massivore/Sinking carnivore and it will grow relatively quick, especially if it has a good appetite.
Agreed on the pellets,good water and good foods are your best bets for the speediest growth.

Not really.They are ambush hunters by nature but they will pick pellets from the bottom after they have learned to eat them.
So I just received the little guy, he’s actually abit closer to 2 inches, I put him plenty of hiding spots so he can get comfortable in his new tank, arrived last night , tried feeding some pellets this morning wouldn’t take them so the struggle begins , I really hope I’m not forced to feed live ( I’ll try and get a pic shortly)
