Just Ordered My First Black Aro!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I loved my black aro. I cant stand silvers but i have a huge heart for blacks. makes no sense...i know. Have fun.

Makes perfect sense to me, I feel the same way!! As I've said before, silvers and blacks are pretty similar, just like tinfoil and platinum... :P

Good luck with the new fish, the price will soon seem insignificant when spread over the life of the fish...

Start calling the shipping company to complain

Package still not here, looked up tracking number and its in town.... Its almost 3:00, I was told it would be here at 10:30 this morning... Im getting mad!!!

Blacks are generally sold at a much higher price. Blacks are more cautious yet less skittish the silvers. Also they don't seem to be such gluttens when it comes to eating. generally blacks in aquariums are smaller then silvers, haven't seen to many blacks beyond 28-30" while silvers is more of 30-32". There are examples of larger of both here and throughout the web though. Comparative length the black has a more slender body the the silver. Color of adults can best be compared by viewing my aro's in the video below. Ofcoarse the color of baby and juvi blacks are a whole nother story.

Biggest difference though is drop eye. While there is alomost no chance of keeping a silver aro in an aquarium without developing DE, there is very little chance of seeing a black even develop DE.
