Just picked up a 240!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Was the tank sitting outside? I bought a similar looking tank but it was sitting outside and after 2 weeks a seam split and lost 300 gallons of water

The guy I bought it from drained the tank and put it in his garage the night before I bought it.

Update;

Researched and decided I can handle resealing. It seems Momentive RTV108 is the best, but it's $21 for a 10oz tube...how much do I need?

I've been working on my DIY rain gutter LEDs.

Even though it won't be visible, I'll still see it so I wanted it to look nice.

Used reflective tape on the inside and screwed in copper PVC hangers. Each rain gutter is 40" and I'm using 3/4" PVC.

Got one completely done and attached to the canopy (the other just needs screwed to the canopy). Wanting to see how it looked, I went to test it and that's where I ran into a problem. I can't find either of the controllers that came with it (I'm thinking one of my kids took it, so it's basically gone lol).

So, instead of ordering a cheap replacement controller, I've decided I want to be able to control them with my phone. The problem is, I use an iPhone (which has no IR blaster).

More research/talking to a guy I know who uses the RGB LEDs in his home. I'm gonna place an order for these & run the controllers under the aquarium (to keep it away from moisture);

Just need to know suggestions on what & how much silicone or RTV108 I'm going to need (going to order it all from Amazon).

Thanks guys/gals!

all you need 100% silicone sealant, they put the word "aquarium" sealant on the label and charge 3 times the amount. 100% silicone is 100% silicone. I use Dap, cost about 7 bucks for a 10.1 tube. I would get 6. once you start sealing you do not want to have to stop because you ran out,.

Good luck with your project. If its any motivation, I think you have made the best choice by doing this now instead of waiting for it to be a problem. Your tank is going to give you years of enjoyment!
