just put some layered flourite in my tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
im not even worried about that anymore.. the tank was well established before i added the flourite, there was already water in the tank when i added the fourite, so i layered the flourite where i put my plants and put some gravel on top of it, i didnt mix it just layered it

so i was thinking of adding the spray bar kit on my filter to see how this helps so i have no stagnet water anywhere. what do you think?

A spray bar would be fine.
My comment was directed at the addition of any chemicals or investing in C02 Unit.

I set up a tank last night. Brand new, with new water. Flourite on the bottom and gravel layer on top. Filteraton is a large sponge filter with a powerhead.

The tank is clear as a bell this morning and the sediment has cleared from the water column.

If you have cloudy water, and your fish have died, you have poor water quality. It has nothing to do with the Flourite. It has nothing to do with the plants.

Leave the tank alone and let it run. See if the tank clears over the next 5 days. Don't add fertilizer to the tank. It sounds like you have a low load of plants that are rooted. Let you filtration catch up to the tank.

its wierd that it was only convicts and also wierd that when i brought the water sample to have it tested it was PERFECT!. so what else do you have to say.. i never said it was the flourite. just was wondering if that ever happend to anyone .. the convicts were alive but paralyzed.. i added the spray bar kit and it is working great. also i have a 75 gallon so i cant just use a spnge filter... no what i mean

Listen guy. You asked for help. If you don't want comment, then go figure it out yourself. It sounds like you're really experienced. I didn't say go get a sponge filter. The spray bar just circulates water. You added Flourite(which is clay based) into an already filled aquarium and it came out cloudy. Weird. The LFS said you water is perfect(???)...then it has to be either the Flourite clay which is suspended particles or all of the fertilizer you put in the tank. See...it's really not that hard.

Actually... I re-read your posts. What the hell do you even want to know? Or are you just commenting that you put Flourite into a tank? If so...good job.

obviously my water will be cloudy if i added flourite. i brought my water sample after i added the liquid ferts and they had told me it was perfect. didnt mean to come off like a...? poop.. sorry if it came off that way, just wanted to know what is the best set up with my fluval 405 and powerhead.. what kind of circulation do i need to start my planted tank. just looking for some ideas maybe pictures of others planted 75

hegoflobin, for some great pics of members monster tanks, check out this thread. You flow is going to be fine for you tank. For the fish die off, I'd suspect a parasite, fungas or protozoal is involved. Were there any odd behaviors before they kicked the bucket?

For future reference I recommend adding substrate then water. When adding water put a pie plate on top, and add the water into that. If done moderately there won't be the cloud of suspended clay.
