What's the room temp?

@LukeOscar. Sealing takes about 20 minutes, scraping and cleaning takes about 5-6 hours... I did a 150 recently, with a heavily but poorly siliconed bottom (think 6 tubes of improper sealing)

my girlfriend and I didn't really have the right tools - get a razor/paint scraper with some new blades at home depot for a few bucks, pays for itself. I was using a chisel and she was using a small exacto in a pen style holder, it took me 6 hrs, with her helping for 2-3 of them.

It's much easier (IMO) to turn the tank on its side (even if it's very heavy). my tank was an oldschool 150 with 5/8+ glass, weighed over 400 lbs. if you try scraping it while it's upright, you're just going to give yourself a headache.

Fish squish thanks for the info, my understanding is when the silicone doesn't smell anymore you are good.

Hello; Two days minimum but with some risk. More security at four days. Probably fine at seven days. In my experience silicone cures from the outside in. Some will depend on how thick the beads of silicone are. After a couple of days I test a bead by pressing gently on it. If it feels firm it is likely cured. If it feels soft at all it likely needs more time. I have gotten away with a two day cure at times and have had issues at times. I now wait three or four days on thin beads and up to a week on thicker beads.

Good for you.I recently resealed my 265 and I let it sit for about a week before testing it.It is stil sitting with the water in it.
