Could have been a Bark Anole (Anolis distichus). They're a tiny anole species that is very gecko-like.

Edit: I just noticed how big you said it was. I think A. distichus only gets to 5 inches.

Oh wow did not know that's what they are call we have them in South Florida. I used to think it was an ashy Gecko now see it wasn't.

Not to many have only seen a few. My house is down block from tree farm and lot's neat lizards and snakes.

They are more gecko like true .

Kind of like that, but a bit slimmer...also no banding, just plain, and without the little warty things. Pretty smooth. Reminded me of a salamander truly.

There are 2 types of common house geckos in area or maybe 1 type but 2 diff looks.
The warty type he posted and the smooth type which is salamander looking. They look like they are allways wet due to skin texture .

Maybe that's what you saw .

I love geckos but after the recent rains the Cuban treefrogs are out in number's at night eating them.

I would also not rule out house gecko...after working in a pet shop, even in CT...those things were always loose all over the store. I've seen absolute monster 7-8 inchers running across the walls......

I did not know they got that big till I moved here as only saw the pet store small geckoes they sold . Was surprised at size of some of them .

Great looking lizards.

It could have also been a Indo-Pacific Gecko, Hemidactylus garnotii. They're pretty plain looking.

I think we've got a bingo, it looked like this pic of the Indo-Pacific gecko:

Definitely lots of Cuban treefrogs about also. I've got a rubbermaid bin and a kiddie pool that I put my turtles in sometimes and both are full of water...and Cuban tree tads.

Yeah I will. I've been checking around the lights but so far no luck...hopefully a frog didn't eat him, wow those frogs can eat.
