Hey guys I just saw a almost 10" shiny greenish yellow colored Festae for only 25 bucks. Looks like a big healthy male. And yes before any one asks I know the difference between Mayan and Festae, it was definately a festae.

My question is, they had it in with a 10" oscar and the fish seemed relatively peaceful, not particularly aggressive. Could I keep him in my 225, there are no other cichlids in the tank. Only a big 14" giant gouramy, two albino pacú, 12 tinfoil barbs and a snakehead I am growing out.

Do you think it would work out?

What type and what size is the snakehead??? Also are GG territorial? Could work and 25 bucks for a 10 inch healthy male Festae is a steal. GL

At 25 id think there was something wrong with it. If anything I'd be worried about that snakehead in that tank depending on the species. The festae could be fine with everything else depending on the individual personalities of all of those fish. And how big are those barbs? Those things can hit 12" so you'll definitely need to thin that herd at some point.

Well I`m getting rid of the snakehead I had him since a 1" baby, hes still in his peaceful juvie stage and hes a giant snakehead. about 9" maybe. doesn`t bother anyone.
The GG is the boss of the tank but I wouldn`t call him territorial, the barbs are great dithers.

My tank is 3 feet wide there is plenty of room, they are red tail tinfoils that only get to 8"-9" they are all fully grown.

The festae had a bit of ich but I think thats just from the stress of being caught and shoved in a random LFS tank. either way he apparently cohabs nicely with the oscar, so he can`t be that mean as an oscar is an easy bullying target for the more aggressive cichlid species. My old Vieja ripped out an oscars eye and stripped all his scales.

If it's healthy it's a steal. Wether it will co habitate or not is a guess. My large male gets along with anything. My female in the other hand.....

Yeah I have read the females are reallllly aggressive. I will think about it

Jiant2520 it looks like the one in your pic, just a little faded/stressed. looks like a real stunner when you clear the ICH with some med. im tempted to go back and get him tomrorow.

I`m selling my snakehead right now anyway so he won`t be in the tank much longer. I imagine without any other cichlids in there to contest his territory he should be fine right?
