Just some pictures of my big Oscar

Africans are bite size for a large Oscar. Doable, but risky, especially if you have a particularly mean Oscar. Also, keeping him in that hard, alkaline water with the rift lake cichlids won’t be good for his health long term.

If it didn't work out I guess the Oscar could be put back in the 60g. Like you said it could be risky but there's always a chance it could work. The tank is so stocked and large enough for one more fish. I'm guessing it would be a 50/50 chance. What Deadeye Deadeye said makes sense though.

Some Africans are bite sized for Oscars, some haps are oscar sized and much bigger though

Honestly, with the wide variety of rift cichlids in size, color, and shape, it’s really not necessary to try to mix an Oscar in with them

It’s generally not a good idea to mix rift cichlids with New world cichlids. But filling the tank like that is a strategy to spread out aggression with rifties
And it works I have lost 7 fish out of over 150 in about a year

The Oscar wouldn't even be the biggest fish in the tank, not even close

7
I would consider losing 7 fish in one tank in one

in an established Species specific tank yes. But that is from day one that I set it up. If you take a look as some of the fish And believe what you read online They should not go together. So yes I think only losing 7 fish is amazing.

From that standpoint, 7 is not too bad, but I could throw 20 fish in an uncycled tank and only lose 3 or 4 and say considering what I did, that’s not bad.
Im not a compatibility nazi and I break rules and go against the grain on many topics, but while i would consider your tank to sorta be working, I don’t see the need for mixing these when there’s so many Africans to pick from.
