just thinking about some stuff

To house a great white you'd need more than 50,000 gallons, try 1 million+, you'll need a pretty damn big siphon to clean that tank. I don't think it has been done with much success anyways. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/7351538/ If you have the resources and the knowlege to keep a great white alive for longer than the world record of 198 days (no offense, well, maybe a little), I'll eat my hat, your hat, your father's, and your mom's.

I'm with Delgado on this one, :screwy: .

I'm gonna toss out a monkey wrench on this one (or "spanner" for our European members ;) ):

I would toss out one of our members has worked with white sharks in captivity (No, not me.....)

I used to have some bala sharks. Does that count?

Maybe b/c they keep dying in the monterey Aquarium.. oh wait.. they dont tell the public that.. They just "Release" them back into the wild, then they die, being that they are tracked, but dont puiblish that info in a press release. Whites are not ment for captivity, just like the whale sharks, whales, dolphins, etc. Just my opinion and 2 cents.

If you want a shark and have the room, I'd recommend something that has a better track record. Maybe a Leopard Shark, only gets about 4-5' and it's still a cold water shark, but they do much better in a tank. I know you were just kidding about the whites, but some aquariums atempts to keep large species just gets under my skin sometimes, sorry for the rant. If you want to see the big boyz, don a Tank and jump in. It's the best way to see them anyway. Your just going in their tank instead :)

There is a limit....

besides size constraints, ferocious appetites, volume of clean water needed, thing will probably kill and eat you without a second thought.

yes all i agree with all your statments and facts

how ever some of you allready knew that i was joking

but still there is a reason i brought up this thread!!
and that was why do people get things they know that can't keep for life!

examples

aripimas, and alligator gars!!

I just dont get it sometimes!

because most of the people who say this give advice or demand people to move there oscars from a 10 gallon tank stating that it is cruel or unjust!

well it is the same for them to keep a 10' aripima in a 450 gallon tank or a 6' alligator gar in a 265! or what ever!

am I right or am I wrong?
