Awesome.

I would just be careful of the plec getting his skin.

It's not a good thing, but chances are neither of them will be removed, because the op currently is using his extra tank for his oscar.

They clean the turtles shells. Haven't had problems in 10yrs w/ plecos cleaning the shell. They're shells are ouragiously hard. And they're a lot tougher than you guys apparently know. Trust me. Its a good thing. And I'm a woman btw:irked:

New to oscars. Definatly not new to turtles or plecos. Even my turtle vet says its a good thing. I'm gonna believe a guy who went to university for 10yrs, and my experinces. But think what you want I guess. Incase anyone is interested, it's a good thing because the plecos eat the algae and such that grows on their shell. If it doesn't get cleaned off(I rinse mine w/ a nail brush), then they get shell rot and they'll die.

I understand the harm it can cause if the plec was doing this to a fish.. but what kind of damage could it do by sucking on it's shell? curious, I don't know....

Turtles are very easily prone to fungus and infection. If a pleco can rasp through an acrylic tank they can def do damage to a Turtle.

Imo my turtles are more important than any common pleco.

The pleco can easily rasp on the turtles skin.

If algae is growing on your turtles shell... Your husbandry practices are lacking. Algae is not normal or a sign of a healthy turtle tank. and shell rot is caused by bacterial infection/poor diet/poor water quality.. not algae growth on the shell. sorry to say.
