Algae is a normal part of a turtle tank, because of the strong UVA/UVB light the turtle needs to bask and dry out their shells, killing the bacteria that can cause shell rot, just one of the ways they can develop shell rot... anyways, its perfectly normal to have excess alge in a turtle tank. U could have a fx5 in a 40gal, and where the light shines, it'll grow @ mshill. Acrylic is easily damaged. For god's sake u use the wrong end of a sponge and it's ruined(who knows y the pleco did that in the first place, poor thing was probably starving, or you made it up). And I'll keep in mind that turtle shell and acrylic is the same material. If any of you knew ANYTHING about turtles, you'd know how absolutely insane all this sounds. "But I had a turtle a few yrs ago" good for u. I've had very healthy turtles for half my life(about 10yrs, I'm 23). They regurlarly go to the vet and get a perfect bill of health everytime. My water is clear, and clean, a turtle owner would know how hard that is to accomplish w/ 2 adult sliders and a juv map). If I didn't have my oscar, I wouldn't need another filter. Fish require special water conditions, and turtles don't. My plecos have always been healthy never had any diseases or ANY issues, & my turtles have always been healthy. Jesus Christ people! I just took a perfectly fine picture, posted it to put a few smiles, and mostly all I got was **** from very rude know-it-alls who assume a turtle tank is a fish tank, and a turtle shell is plastic. If any of you actually HAD turtles and plecos, you'd know that they clean their shells nightly, and it is ABSOLUTELY ludicris(sp), to assume that a pleco will sit there and munch THROUGH a healthy turtle's shell a disesed shell might be different, idk). They skim over them nightly, then move on to whatever else there is to eat. Apparently it's bad to try to put a few smiles on peoples faces. Well pardon me for trying to better a fish/turtle owners day
