Shes about 40 years old and one of my oldest turtles, Older then me by 20 years.
So I walk out to her little pond and come across a Cat Feet and a Few remains Collar and I think it was the tail to messed up to tell.
I dont think my turtle would just attack it cause it was hungry or if she thought it was a threat. Im able to sit in the pond next to my snapper with out her getting mad. She has an excellent personality and hates when people are around and doesnt give her attention.
What can I do to pervent another Accident like this. I'm not going to put
(Kiki is My turtles name ) in a Pen with her pond. Shes part of the family and isnt like the alligator snappers you normally see.

Im still trying to figure out if she was in a bad mood or the Cat was taunting her. Right when I walked out Kiki comes out of her pond to greet me and I then stuck my feet into her pond. No agreesion at all.

Any ideas?

Wow!! You sure it ate the cat????

Can we see some pix of that beauty??

my guess is the cat went to the pond for a drink, fell in, and drowned.... Kiki just scavenged the carcass.
Kiki sounds like a very unique turtle, i would love to see pictures of her. an alli snapper like that is almost unheard of, it almost seems like something you would see on TV :D

Also I guess I can see if the Cat Drowned It is really slippery unless you goto the side where its a little muddy and can get out.

That's a little odd. I doubt a alligator snapping turtle is fast enough to even grab a cat. Maybe something else got it.

Good call, I'm also not sure this would realistically happen. Even if it grabbed a hold of the cat, I'm pretty positive the cat would be able to get away.

if a 50 year old alli snapper grabbed a cat, the cat wouldent have a chance

Exactly.

Though I think a common snapper would be more prone to it.....

if a big snapper like that grabbed a hold of a cat's leg, theres no escape for it. those things have enough bite pressure to take someone's hand clean off.
