Well, we do have a resident Snapping turtle expert on the forums. He has HOURS of research and an insurmountable wealth of knowledge and expertise in the field.

Aw, shucks. I love being recognized. ;)

I would love to see some pics. Sounds pretty awesome to have a alli snapper that is so tame. I have another question: Who's cat was it? Yours? The poor neighbor kids'?

Well you live in California. It is possible a coyote had gotten the cat. I highly doubt a cat was swimming in the pond. And I doubt that a cat would have fallen in and stayed in there long enough for the snapper to rip it to shreds. Unless the cat is morbidly obese most cats I know even some big cats once they hit water jump pretty high.

Also I guess its a neighbors cat. I kind of dont want to go there and be like
"Hey Im not sure if My Turtle ate your cat but heres the collar and leg".

I know nothing about snappers but could the snapper have "thrown" on the lawn the cat parts it didn't want to eat .

They wernt on the Lawn, They were on the beach part of her pond.

Not trying to be a prick, just sounds awfully fishy to me. Can we get some camera pics?

Ill try and get some phone camera pics. and upload them I have an old camera phone.
But Like I was saying I didnt think she would acutally grab the cat I think it might have been there form some other animal and she picked it up and started munching on it
